Isle of Skye Explorer Tour

A bespoke tour proposal for Neda Borousan

Scotland's Island Jewel

The Isle of Skye Explorer tour is the perfect low-fuss short break to discover the majestic landscapes of the Isle of Skye. This 4 night private itinerary is available as either a self-drive or fully guided tour. Spend 3 days hiking amid both iconic landscapes and lesser known gems, accompanied by a local expert hiking guide.

  • Discover the incredible lanscapes of Trotternish as you hike through the Quiraing
  • Learn about Skye’s turbulent past as you visit abandoned villages
  • Get off the beaten trail, exploring the neighbouring island of Raasay

“We spent a magical three days with David, mostly exploring the island of Skye. To say that David is a fantastic guide really sells the experience short. Yes, we saw some of Scotland’s most beautiful scenery but we also learned so much along the way! History, geology, nature, folk tales, local lore and much much more. Combine this with a wonderfully positive attitude plus a caring spirit and you’ll understand why the only disappointing part of having David guide you is saying goodbye at the end. Thanks for an amazing experience David, we’ll be back!”  – Paul Clip

Day by Day

Day 1

Arrive on Skye

Make your way to the Isle of Skye, and check in to your accommodation. Enjoy dinner at one of the excellent local restaurants, before getting a good night’s sleep before your first day of hiking tomorrow!

Day 2

Hiking at the Quiraing

Today you will head north to explore one of Skye’s most famous landmarks – the Quiraing. This extraordinary landscape feature is formed by a slow-motion landscape where half of the mountainside is frozen in the act of collapsing, and boasts some incredible rock formations – as well as amazing views!

Day 3

Hiking the Clearance Coast

Today you’ll explore the south of the island, hiking a circular route that visits a pair of abandoned villages on the coast. These villages – Boreraig and Suishnish – were brutally cleared of their residents during the Highland Clearances, and their remains are a haunting and poignant reminder of worse times amid what is now a wild and beautiful shoreline.

Day 4

Hiking on Raasay

Do something different today, taking a short ferry ride from Skye to the adjacent Isle of Raasay. Less visited than Skye but no less worthwhile, this amazing island boasts many fantastic hikes, fascinating history, and also a fantastic distillery!

Day 5

Departure

Check out from your accommodation this morning and say farewell to Skye as you begin your onward travel.
